Faith plays an integral role in happiness. For one, faith provides answers where there seem to be none. On the contrary, the faithless come up short for answers all the time. For example, many of us spend much of our lives trying to figure out why bad things happen to good people. Unfortunately, there is often no clear reason for such injustices. So having faith that everything happens because it fits into a grand plan is exceptionally comforting. You should refresh your sense of faith and articulate a set of values that you believe are important for living. Even in the darkest times, faith can help you find your way back to happiness.
(I) Learn to have faith
- Faith can be a supporting pillar of happiness. But too often, people try and force themselves to have faith because their families, friends, or community leaders push them into it. To truly be a person of faith, avoid approaching faith from a place of guilt. Don't easily believe in something simply because someone else does or tells you so. Decide for yourself the things that you believe and stay true to them.
(II) Have faith in a higher power when you are down and out
- There is no more important time to have faith than when you are filled with fear, doubt, and sorrow. Faith can conquer each of these demons. So look to the sky when all you can see is the ground. Turn your head up and feel that you are not alone. It is during your most difficult times that you most need your faith, so keep your head up and feel God's comforting presence.
(III) Live a clean and honest life
- The satisfaction and emotional peace that comes from living an honest life is hard to rival. Lies, on the other hand, poison your good intentions and prevent you from living a clean and free life. Lies also cause you to feel guilty, and guilt festers. Living in the shadow of those burdens causes severe physical and emotional stress. Always tell the truth even when it is difficult to do so. Living with lies is highly self-destructive and will prevent you from ever being deeply happy.
